Fair trade, circular economy and sustainable supply chains

Research lead: Andrea Ellero

Fair-trade consumption and production promote access to basic services, decent and environmentally friendly jobs and a better quality of life for all actors in the production chain.

Natural consequence of fair trade are the reduction of future economic, environmental and social costs, the improvement of economic competitiveness and the reduction of poverty. The quest to make the economy “circular” cannot be separated from equity. However, fair washing used for promotional purposes requires careful supervision of the supply chain and the presence of recognized certification institutions.

The study of the possibilities of a monitoring / certification and guarantee system, of the KPIs useful for this purpose and of the possibility of their synthesis, are the main themes of this line of research.
